In This Issue...

Welcome to the first edition of Grassroots Client News. As
an approved client of Grassroots.org's Free Hosting Services
you are receiving this new monthly newsletter to keep you
informed of the latest news with your hosting service.

We also publish a consumer-oriented newsletter called
Grassroots News. You can sign up for that newsletter at

Introduction

Grassroots.org is a web-based service that is designed to
spread the word about various issues to the general public.
This is done through topical sites dedicated to specific
issues such as:
* Crime.org - http://www.crime.org (white collar crime)
* VoterRegistration.org - http://www.voterregistration.org
(voter outreach and registration)
* Homeless.org - http://www.homeless.org (homelessness and
poverty).

We also help charities and other non profit organizations
get the word out by providing free web hosting and other
services to their organizations. We hope that by saving this
expense that these organizations are able to spend the money
in other ways to help their constituents.

Enhanced Hosting Services

Thanks to TierraNet who provides the web hosting services
for Grassroots.org clients, your hosting account has
recently been enhanced to include 100 MB of file space
(previously 10MB).	It also includes 5 free mailboxes.
Additional resources are available at a discount price for
Grassroots Hosting Clients. For example, if you require more
than 5 e-mail accounts with your account, each additional
mailbox is only $1/person per month or you can purchase an
unlimited number of mailboxes for $25/month.	Other
services, such as increased file space and mailing list
services (for distributing announcements or newsletters by
e-mail), are also available.	Just e-mail TierraNet at
support@tierra.net or call (877) TIERRA-1 .

Your Web Site

While many clients are using the free hosting from
Grassroots.org, some have not uploaded any pages to their
account or have not transferred their web site from their
previous host.	If you have lost your account information,
need technical assistance or have other questions about your
hosting account, you can e-mail TierraNet at
support@tierra.net or call (877) TIERRA-1 .

Also, some clients are not displaying the Grassroots.org
banner within the top few inches of their site as required
per the agreement on the free web hosting application. If
you need a copy of the Grassroots.org banner to add to your
site, you can retrieve the graphic file at
http://www.grassroots.org/images/grassroots_banner.jpg .

Web Design Services

If you do not have the resources available to
develop your web site, Grassroots.org is pleased to offer
a low-cost option that will get your site designed and
developed with a professional look.	Our friends at
http://www.x3o.com will work with you and design a
professional site with information about your services, your
contact information and other features while using your own
text,pictures and graphics (including your logo).	(For

Sites

Each of the Grassroots.org topical sites includes an
overview of the site topic with links to related sites,
articles and other resources. Each site also includes a
discussion forum for people to ask and answer questions and
to present their views.

In the coming months we will be adding many new sites on
various topics and we will be revising some of the existing
sites. New site announcements will be made in future
editions of Grassroots News and all sites will be available
as soon as possible from the Grassroots home page at
http://www.grassroots.org .

is not covered in one of our sites and you are interested
in developing a general topic site for Grassroots.org,

Discussion Forums

All of our sites include discussion forums which are easily
accessible through the site's main page.	The forums are a
great way for you to help and encourage others, to allow
others to learn more about you and your organization and to
build relationships with others in the same field of
interest.

Free Web Hosting for Nonprofit Organizations

As you know, registered nonprofit organizations in the
United States or Canada are eligible to receive free web
hosting at Grassroots.org. Please pass the word along to
people you know in other organizations who would be
interested in receiving free web hosting.	To qualify,
the site must be non-religious, must not be politically
affiliated, and the organization must supply proof of their
501(c)3 status (US) or their Charitable Registration Number
(Canada).

Legal Services

Clients who have a Grassroots.org banner on the top of their
web site are eligible to receive select legal services from
Grassroots.org.	Additional details about the services will
be available in the next issue of the Client News.	If you
have immediate questions, send your inquiry to

Future Issues

The next issues of Grassroots Client News will cover new
hosting features, profiles of web hosting clients, and
information about resources that you can use to improve your
web site and its effectiveness.
