See this Press Release for more information.

Free Domain Name for US and Canadian Nonprofit Organizations
-----------------------------------------
Grassroots.org recently introduced a new program that allows new and existing nonprofit web clients to receive a free domain name of their choice for one year. The arrangement is made possible through a new partnership with the domain name registrar Moniker.com. Under the agreement nonprofit organizations will be able to register a new domain name or transfer their existing name to take advantage of the offer. To receive the free domain name, along with free web hosting and web design, fill out this application and submit along with proof of the organization's nonprofit status. Qualified applicants will then be given instructions on how to register a new domain name or transfer an existing domain name at no cost. Existing hosting clients can receive instructions on obtaining the free year of domain registration by sending an e-mail message to hosting@grassroots.org. See our press release.

Organizers Database Software
-----------------------------------------
Organizers Database (ODB) is a free, open-source, downloadable version of the membership software the organization developed for its own use. The software enables small, technologically challenged community groups to computerize key tasks like managing donor lists, generating mass emails, processing donations, sending thank you notes, and tracking volunteers. For a list of the software's features, click here. You can download the software here.

Volunteer Resources Manager Roundtable
-----------------------------------------
The VRM Roundtable is a community of approximately 400 volunteer managers who come together to engage in open, professional-level dialog through an email-based discussion forum created in March. The VRM Roundtable aims to:

- Provide a central, public place to report out to stakeholders on the salient developments growing out of the dialog and related endeavors taking place;
- Provide a means to ensure the transparency of projects, such as surveys, as well as of any efforts to move toward creation of an organization;
- Provide the nonprofit volunteer resources management community and other stakeholders with a public, web-based discussion form;
- Serve as a clearinghouse of developments taking place in any of a number of venues within the US third sector; and
- Provide password-protected collaboration tools to assist ad hoc workgroups to do their work.

Interconnection.org
-----------------------------------------
As you know, Grassroots.org provides free Internet services for nonprofit organizations in the United States and Canada. Interconnection.org is a nonprofit organization that provides similar services to nonprofit (non-governmental) organizations in developing countries. In addition, The InterConnection Computer Reuse and Learning Center recycles tons of electronic items that are discarded daily. The Center teaches computer maintenance and repair skills to local community members, donates computers to people who complete our computer skills program and provides refurbished computers to nonprofit organizations locally and around the world.

The Center for What Works
-----------------------------------------
The Center for What Works helps social sector practitioners and grantmakers to measure programmatic performance and benchmark organizational success in order to demonstrate and improve results. Included on their site are resources such as this Benchmarking Primer.

Web Design Volunteers Available
-----------------------------------------
In addition to free web hosting we also provide free web design to charities in the US and Canada. We can do this by providing organizations with their choice of either a web design volunteer or a WYSIWYG application that allows a non- technical person to create their own web site. If you are interested in this service and are already a hosting client, just drop us a line at hosting@grassroots.org to let us know. If you are not a hosting client, you can apply for both free web hosting and free design by completing this form.
