Description:
Mission Statement: Shelter House is a temporary and transitional service that exisits to provide short term relief to those people in need of shelter, food and clothing, and to support access to the resources and services these people require in order to improve their own capacity to meet their basic needs. Shelter House provides short-term relief to those in need of shelter, food, and clothing and advocates to access resources to support their transition. The Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Dormitories are open from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. weekends. The Shelter provides laundry facilities, showers, and can accommodate 27 men, 10 youth and 5 women. Our Youth Development Worker provides counselling and referrals to youth at the shelter as well as a weekly program of art, recreation and life skills building activities. Lunch is open to the community from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and dinner is open to residents and the community from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. |
