Mission Statement: Shelter House is a temporary and transitional service that exisits to provide short term relief to those people in need of shelter, food and clothing, and to support access to the resources and services these people require in order to improve their own capacity to meet their basic needs. Shelter House provides short-term relief to those in need of shelter, food, and clothing and advocates to access resources to support their transition. The Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Dormitories are open from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. weekends. The Shelter provides laundry facilities, showers, and can accommodate 27 men, 10 youth and 5 women. Our Youth Development Worker provides counselling and referrals to youth at the shelter as well as a weekly program of art, recreation and life skills building activities. Lunch is open to the community from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and dinner is open to residents and the community from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Youth Haven Barrie is a christian based home that provides emergency shelter for youth aged 16-21. All meals are provided during the residents 30 day stay along with a small provision of necassary clothing and personal hygeine needs. The residents are asked to either be working full time or going to school. If not then they must be activly seeking employment in the community. We offer many referrals to the residents as well as life skills classes through the week were they work on subjects from budgeting, sex ed., cooking, shopping, and so on.
