A 37 bed emergency shelter for women and children in crisis due to abuse and homelessness. Located at an undisclosed location in downtown Hamilton, it is a welcoming, supportive and safe environment. We offer a 24 hour confidential crisis line, community referrals, and supportive and educational individual and group crisis counseling for women, youth and children. We also provide recreational and therapeutic activities for children and teen girls. Our mission is tri-fold: -To provide safe, temporary accommodation and services to women, youth and children in crisis. -To provide a positive, healing environment in which each individual, regardless of ability, age, religion, race or culture will have the opportunity to realize their potential, rights and resources available. -To educate our community on abuse prevention and work with other community services to put policies and procedures in place that more effectively supports and protects women, youth and children exposed to abuse. Inasmuch House provides many services including: -safe accommodation for 37 residents including meals, clothing, laundry and personal needs for up to 6 weeks -individual crisis counseling and groups that are supportive and educational geared to women, youth and children -information and referrals to supportive services in the community, including Domestic Violence Emergency Response System personal alarm for abused women living in our community -legal duty counsel available once a month on site -emergency transportation to the shelter -safe house for 13-15 year old Children’s Aid Referrals who are abused -audio/visual presentations on women and child abuse available to the public -volunteer training program -post-secondary student placement training program -multi-lingual counselors including sign language

Services Offered: - private family bedrooms - 24-hour crisis line: 905-523-6277 - 24-hour availability of counselling/support - safe, short-term accommodation for women and their children - emergency transportation to the shelter if needed - referrals and advocacy for legal, medical, financial, employment, housing and other community services - interpreters for non-English speaking residents - assistance for women and children seeking to re-establish themselves in the community - wheelchair accessibility with attendant care if necessary

HelpLine 888-308-6559 Shelter 905-664-1114 All Services are confidential and incude: 1.Safe, ememergency shelter 24 hours per day, 7 days per week including all meals, emergency clothing and personal need items for all residences. 2. 24 - hour counselling for residents, non-residents and past residents. Long distance or local collect crisis calls are accepted. 3. Counselling services primarily using one-on-one counselling. Group counselling sessions are scheduled, upon request. Services are provided at the Aboriginal Health Centre, appointments are made through the Native Women's Centre. 4. Emergency transportation to our shelter can be arranged upon request. Temporary transportation assistance may be available to residents for appointments. (i.e. counselling, Dr's, legal aid, etc.) 5. Information and / or referrals for legal, medical, financial, housing, and employment services. 6. Access to native traditional methods of healing, but remain sensitive to other cultures. 7. Woman Abuse Educational Program. A weekly in-house group for the women in residence.
